There’s certainly no shortage of glamorous photos to pore over from the 2023 Met Gala, but some of the night’s most exciting shots may well be the ones taken by Cara Delevingne. The 30-year-old model is best known for her work in front of the camera, but she brought an artist’s eye to her mission of capturing all the action on the first Monday in May. Delevingne attended the star-studded event clad to perfection in a flowing white robe-like gown created by Karl Lagerfeld’s eponymous brand and a pair of very Lagerfeld-appropriate tinted aviators. For her appearance at the Met Gala this year, Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh turned to Karl Lagerfeld’s namesake brand for a couture creation. The Everything Everywhere All At Once star’s look lifted direct inspiration from Lagerfeld’s austere everyday wardrobe. Yeoh wore, what she calls, a “tuxedo gown” to honor the late designer, who was the focus of the night’s festivities and the exhibition “Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty.” “He was a true artist in every sense of the word,” Yeoh said in a new video for Alibashirt. The one-of-one creation featured a crisp, silk tuxedo shirt, cut with a plunging neckline, paired with a voluminous black skirt and dramatic train. The look was equal parts shrewd homage and red carpet elegance.

In fact, the Perth native was feeling rather nervous ahead of his Met debut. “It’s funny, because I feel I should get more nervous before a race,” he reflects. “[But] this certainly feels like I’m stepping out of my comfort zone.” Be that as it may, he cut a dashing figure in his custom Thom Browne suit, done up in a black grosgrain ribbon tweed inspired by Karl Lagerfeld’s tenure at Chanel. “When Thom started thinking about his table and reaching out to you, he was really excited about the classic but comfortable look that you bring to your style,” Thom Browne’s Jonathon Zadrzynski tells Ricciardo, helping him into a perfectly tailored waistcoat and jacket.
